Sustainability & Local Approach
Chesterfield Asphalt Ltd is committed to supplying materials in a way that supports both our customers and the local environment. We are actively exploring ways to increase efficiency, minimise waste and make responsible use of aggregates, binders and energy.
Where practical, we favour:
Efficient batching and loading to reduce queuing and unnecessary engine idlingThe use of recycled materials in line with project specifications and performance requirements
Close coordination with contractors to avoid over‑ordering and waste
Asphalt is inherently recyclable: planed material can be processed as RAP (Reclaimed Asphalt Planings) and incorporated into new mixes where specifications allow. Using recycled content can reduce demand for primary aggregates and lower the overall carbon footprint of a scheme.
Warm Mix Asphalt
Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technologies allow asphalt to be produced and laid at lower temperatures than traditional hot mixes, cutting energy use and associated carbon emissions while maintaining performance. Industry data indicates WMAs can reduce CO₂ from asphalt production, road construction and maintenance by up to around 15% compared with conventional hot mixes.
Where specifications and plant capability allow, Chesterfield Asphalt Ltd can discuss warm mix and recycled content options with contractors who want to reduce the carbon footprint of their projects.
As technical standards and low‑carbon technologies develop, we will continue to adapt our product range so local contractors can meet new client expectations and regulatory requirements without needing to deal with a national corporate supplier.
